JFT Test — Privacy Policy

1. Summary

• You never need an account to take tests. If you do not sign in, the app sends no personal data anywhere — your results stay on your phone.
• Signing in is optional. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we store your email address, an account ID and the test results you choose to sync, so you can keep them when you change phones.
• If you buy a test pass, we store a record of the purchase so the tests stay unlocked. Payment itself is handled by Google Play or the App Store; we never see your card details.
• No advertising, no advertising identifiers, no analytics or tracking software in the app. We do not sell your data.

JFT Test is an independent practice app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the Japan Foundation, which administers the official JFT-Basic test.

2. Data stored only on your phone

• Your test results (test number, answers chosen, score, time taken), your interface language, and a list of results waiting to be synced.
• If you signed in: a random sign-in token, stored in the app’s private storage.
• The date you first opened the app (to count the 3-day free trial), a copy of your pass status, and — only if a purchase could not be verified yet — the store receipt, kept until it is verified.

Deleting the app removes all of this from your phone. If your phone’s system backup is on (Android backup or iCloud), the backup may also hold a copy of this app data, managed by Google or Apple; on Android the sign-in token is excluded from backups.

3. Data we collect when you sign in (optional)

• Email address provided by Google or Apple (with Apple’s “Hide My Email” this is a relay address).
• Account ID — a code that Google or Apple gives us to recognise your account. We do not receive your password.
• Test results you sync — test number, date and time, answers chosen, score, time taken.
• Sign-in sessions — we keep only a one-way hash of your sign-in token; a session expires after 180 days.
• Purchases (only if you buy a pass) — transaction ID, product, purchase date and expiry date. No card or bank details.

We use this data only to sync your results between devices, keep your purchases unlocked, count your 3-day free trial from the day the account was created, and protect the service from abuse. We do not use it for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell or share it with anyone for their own purposes.

4. Technical logs

Like any website, our server records technical logs (IP address, time, the request made) to keep the service running and secure. These logs are deleted automatically after 14 days. Our application logs record an internal account number, never your email address or token.

5. Service providers

• Google — Google Sign-In and Google Play (app distribution and payments).
• Apple — Sign in with Apple and the App Store (app distribution and payments).
• DigitalOcean — hosts our server in Singapore.

These providers process data on our behalf or under their own privacy policies for sign-in and payment. The app contains no other third-party SDK: no Google Analytics, no Firebase, no Facebook/Meta SDK, no advertising network.

6. Where your data is stored

Account data is stored on our server in Singapore. Backup copies are kept by the developer in Vietnam. By signing in, you understand that your data may be stored and processed outside your country of residence, including outside Japan.

7. How long we keep it

• Account data and synced results: until you delete your account.
• After you delete your account: removed from our server at once; copies may remain in backups for up to 60 days, then those backups are deleted automatically.
• Technical server logs: 14 days.

8. Your rights and account deletion

You can delete your account at any time in the app (👤 Account → Delete account) or by email — see how to delete your JFT Test account. You can also email us to ask for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete only your synced results.

9. Security

All connections between the app and our server use HTTPS. Sign-in tokens are stored only as one-way hashes, and access to the server is limited to the developer.

10. Children

JFT Test is intended for adults preparing for the JFT-Basic and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has signed in, contact us and we will delete the account.

11. Changes to this policy

If the app starts to process personal data in a new way, we will publish an updated policy at this address, with a new version number and effective date, before that version of the app is released.
